Central government approves Rs 646 crore elevated road in Cuttack

Infrastructure  -  Jul 30,2025  -

The central government has given its approval for a significant elevated corridor project in Cuttack, Odisha, valued at Rs 646 crore.

This new road will connect OMP Square to Kandarpur and aims to ease the heavy traffic congestion in the city.

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the corridor is now complete, and construction is expected to begin within the next three months, once final approval from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is received.

Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab confirmed that the elevated corridor will be built along parts of National Highway 55. It will include service roads and paved shoulders to ensure smooth traffic flow.

The project is designed to cut down travel time and reduce the risk of accidents, making commutes safer and faster for both daily travelers and long-distance trucks. This investment is a major boost for Cuttack's infrastructure and urban movement.
