Cabinet approves Rs 4,447 crore Mokama-Munger road project in Bihar

Infrastructure  -  Sep 10,2025  -

The Union Cabinet has given its approval for a new infrastructure project in Bihar: a four-lane, access-controlled highway connecting Mokama and Munger.

The 82.4-kilometer road, part of the Buxar–Bhagalpur High-Speed Corridor, is being built at a cost of Rs 4,447.38 crore under the Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM).

The project is designed to handle vehicular speeds of up to 100 kmph, which will reduce the travel time between Mokama and Munger to approximately 1.5 hours.

It is expected to significantly boost the regional economy by improving connectivity to industrial hubs in the Munger-Jamalpur-Bhagalpur belt.

The government projects that the construction will generate around 14.83 lakh man-days of direct employment and 18.46 lakh man-days of indirect employment.
