Cabinet approves green field airport at Kota-Bundi, Rajasthan

Automotive Industries  -  Aug 19,2025  -

The Union Cabinet has approved the development of a new Green Field Airport at Kota-Bundi, Rajasthan, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,507.00 crore.

This project is a crucial step toward enhancing air connectivity for the region, which is a major educational and industrial hub.

The new airport will be built on a 440.06-hectare plot of land transferred by the state government to the Airports Authority of India (AAI). It will have the capacity to handle 2 million passengers per annum (MPPA) and will accommodate larger aircraft like the A-321.

The existing Kota airport, which can only handle small aircraft, is constrained by land availability and surrounding urbanization, making it unsuitable for commercial expansion.

The new facility will include a 20,000 sqm terminal building capable of handling 1,000 peak-hour passengers, a new runway, and multiple parking bays.

The development of this greenfield airport addresses a long-standing demand from the industrial and educational sectors in Kota, which attracts a high volume of student and business traffic.
