BMW Industries invests Rs 803 crore to boost high-end steel offerings

Automotive Industries  -  Aug 25,2025  -

Steel manufacturer BMW Industries is investing Rs 803 crore to establish a 0.5 million tonne cold rolling complex in Bokaro, Jharkhand.

The investment is part of the government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for Specialty Steel and is aimed at enhancing the company's portfolio of high-end steel products for the automotive and infrastructure sectors.

According to Harsh Bansal, the company's Managing Director, the new facility will produce color-coated materials and advanced alloy/non-alloy coated products, catering to a wide range of industries including construction, renewable energy, and defense.

The company expects to commence production of color-coated materials in the third quarter of the 2025-26 financial year.

The expansion, a brownfield project, will increase the company's total manufacturing capacity to 2.5 million tonnes and is expected to generate significant direct and indirect employment.
