Bihar's dairy sector set for a major boost with Rs 316 crore investment

Food Processing  -  Jul 31,2025  -

In a move set to invigorate its dairy sector, the Bihar cabinet has given its nod to an allocation of Rs 316 crore for the establishment of five new dairy and milk powder plants.

This significant investment aims to enhance milk collection, processing, and distribution capabilities across the state, directly benefiting local farmers and strengthening the cooperative movement.

Two state-of-the-art milk powder plants, each with a capacity of 30 metric tonnes per day, are slated for construction in Dehri-On-Sone (Rohtas) and Sitamarhi.

Additionally, three new dairy plants will be set up: two with a substantial 2 lakh litre per day capacity in Darbhanga and Wazirganj (Gaya Ji), and another with a 1 lakh litre per day capacity in Gopalganj.

This strategic expansion is poised to boost milk production, increase farmers' incomes, and create numerous employment opportunities in Bihar's rural areas.
