The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is planning a massive research and development campus spread over nearly 3,000 acres in Anakapalli district, Andhra Pradesh, marking one of its largest greenfield initiatives. 

Located close to Visakhapatnam, the proposed facility is expected to support advanced research in nuclear science, energy systems, healthcare applications, agriculture, and water technologies. 

The campus will significantly enhance India’s scientific infrastructure while strengthening regional research capacity. 

The project is aligned with the Centre’s focus on strategic self-reliance and long-term technology development. 

It is also expected to generate high-skill employment and spur ancillary industrial and academic collaboration in north coastal Andhra Pradesh.
