The Andhra Pradesh government has announced plans to develop a 500-acre Medical Devices Manufacturing Zone 2.0 in Visakhapatnam, aimed at significantly expanding the state’s MedTech production capabilities and attracting both domestic and global investors to the sector. 

The initiative is expected to build on existing medical manufacturing efforts by creating dedicated infrastructure, facilitating plug-and-play facilities, and offering streamlined regulatory support to companies setting up operations in the zone. 

This development aligns with broader national and state priorities to reduce import dependence for medical technology and strengthen India’s position in high-value healthcare manufacturing. 

The zone is likely to generate substantial employment across engineering, quality control, and ancillary services, while enhancing competitiveness in both domestic and export markets.
