Andhra Pradesh signs nearly Rs 3 lakh crore renewable-energy agreements ahead of CII summit

Automotive Industries  -  Nov 13,2025  -

Just ahead of the 30th CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam, the Andhra Pradesh government signed renewable-energy agreements worth about Rs. 2.94 lakh crore covering pumped-hydro storage, green-hydrogen, wind, solar, bio-fuels and large-scale energy-storage systems.

The agreements were exchanged between the state’s New & Renewable Energy Development Corporation (NREDCAP) and several investors.

The state government stated that these deals are expected to generate up to 70 lakh jobs across Andhra Pradesh, and amplify the state’s ambition to become a leading green-industrial and manufacturing hub.

The investments align with India’s broader energy-transition goals and the global push for hydrogen, green fuels and grid resilience.

Andhra’s advantage in coastal transmission, open land, investor-friendly policy, infrastructure and proximity to ports places it well for such large-scale renewables and storage projects.

By stacking up solar, wind, pumped hydro, green hydrogen and storage, the state is aiming for integrated energy value-chains rather than piecemeal installations.

However, major challenges remain: actual execution of large-scale storage, green-hydrogen production, grid-integration, land acquisition and timelines often lag headline announcements.

The next 12-24 months will be critical to transform commitments into functioning assets.
