Woodpecker Distilleries initiates trial production for expansion project in Hassan

Infrastructure  -  Mar 28,2024  -

Woodpecker Distilleries, a prominent player in the beverage industry in Southern India and a subsidiary of SOM Distilleries, has announced the fast-tracking of its expansion project at Hassan. This acceleration comes as a result of a recent infusion of equity, enabling the company to commence trial production well in time to capitalize on the peak beer consumption season.

With the equity investment in the subsidiary company, Woodpecker Distilleries is set to initiate trial runs on March 30, 2024. This strategic decision reflects the company’s commitment to leveraging its enhanced production capabilities and optimized processes to meet the anticipated surge in demand during the peak beer consumption season.

The current capacity of Som Distilleries’ unit in Karnataka stands at approximately 90 lakh cases. With this expansion, the company has increased this capacity by an additional 60 lakh cases.

Consequently, the Karnataka facility will have a total capacity of 1.5 crore cases. The estimated expenditure for this expansion is projected to be around Rs. 75 crore.
