Wipro to invest Rs 500 crore for Copper Clad Laminate Plant in Karnataka

Power Generation  -  Jul 30,2025  -

Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN) has announced a significant investment of Rs 500 crore to establish a new plant in Karnataka.

This plant, under a new business division called Wipro Electronic Materials, will focus on manufacturing high-performance base materials for Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs).

The company has acquired 19 acres of land in Doddaballapur for this facility, which is set to begin production in 2026. The plant will produce over 6 million sheets of copper-clad laminates (CCL) and related materials used in electronics. This initiative is expected to create approximately 350 jobs.

Neeraj Pandita, Co-CEO of Wipro Electronic Materials, stated that initially, the products will be sold within India, with plans to export up to 50% of the production to Southeast Asia, Korea, the US, and Europe over the next five years. Currently, India imports all its copper-clad laminates.

This strategic investment aims to reduce India's reliance on imports and build a stronger, innovation-driven electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the country, supporting fast-growing sectors like telecom, automotive, consumer electronics, and artificial intelligence.
