Warangal railway manufacturing unit on track for 2026 completion

Infrastructure  -  Dec 01,2025  -

The Warangal railway manufacturing complex remains on schedule and is expected to be operational by 2026. The unit will manufacture rolling-stock components and complete railway vehicles, strengthening domestic production capabilities. It will also reduce procurement timelines and dependence on imported components.

The project is part of Indian Railways’ broader vision to enhance Make-in-India manufacturing and build self-reliant supply chains. Once operational, the facility will support upcoming Vande Bharat, freight, and metro-rail manufacturing requirements. The complex is expected to create considerable employment and attract ancillary industries to the region.

The Warangal unit’s progress also indicates improved execution capability in railway infrastructure projects. Telangana stands to benefit from increased industrial activity, improved logistics investment, and long-term supplier opportunities. The facility will serve as a catalyst for the state’s engineering and manufacturing ecosystem
