V O Chidambaranar Port Authority has signed an agreement with Indian Railway Finance Corporation and Sagarmala Finance Corporation for financing the outer harbour project.

The outer harbour project involves an investment of around Rs. 15,000 crore. It is aimed at expanding cargo handling capacity at the port.

The financing arrangement supports phased development of the project. The outer harbour will strengthen east coast maritime infrastructure.
