Vizhinjam port is being positioned as a strategic node in Kerala’s green hydrogen roadmap, leveraging port access for hydrogen imports/exports, renewable energy integration and electrolysis plant siting. 

Ports can provide scale and logistics for hydrogen carriers and support industrial clusters that benefit from lowcarbon feedstocks. 

If realised, the plan would link maritime infrastructure with decarbonisation goals and attract investment in electrolyser capacity and green power supply.

Kerala is positioning the port as an anchor for future hydrogen bunkering and export infrastructure tied to its renewableenergy potential.

Analysts believe the initiative could attract global cleanenergy players looking for strategic maritime locations.
