Vena Energy Pioneers India's first load-following PPA with SECI

Power Generation  -  Jul 24,2025  -

Vena Energy has signed a landmark 100 MW load-following Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

This first-of-its-kind agreement in the country falls under the Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) scheme, marking a major shift towards more reliable and demand-driven clean energy delivery.

Unlike traditional renewable energy contracts, this load-following PPA mandates that Vena Energy supply renewable power that precisely matches the hourly demand profile of the purchasing distribution companies (DISCOMs).

This innovative approach addresses the inherent intermittency of solar and wind power, making renewable energy output far more predictable and reliable, crucial for grid stability.

To meet these stringent requirements, Vena Energy will develop an integrated hybrid project combining solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

This combination will enable energy to be stored during periods of high generation and dispatched as needed, ensuring a consistent supply even when wind or solar generation is low. This also represents Vena Energy's first integrated wind, solar, and energy storage project in India.
