Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy announced as L1-bidder for works at PP plant in Gujarat

Petroleum  -  Jul 15,2025  -

Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions (TBWES) has been declared the lowest bidder (L1) by Engineers India for a significant order valued at Rs 277.02 crore.

The contract involves the supply and execution of a crucial heater package for a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit, which is an integral part of a larger PDH Polypropylene (PP) plant and associated ethane and propane handling facilities located in Dahej, Gujarat.

Being declared the "L1 bidder" signifies that TBWES submitted the most competitive and lowest bid among all qualified participants in the tender process.

This makes them the frontrunner to secure the contract, provided all other technical and commercial parameters are met as per the tender specifications.

The heater package is a critical component for the PDH unit, which plays a pivotal role in converting propane into propylene. Propylene, in turn, is a key feedstock essential for the production of polypropylene – a widely used polymer in various industries, including packaging, automotive, and textiles.

The efficient operation of the PDH plant heavily relies on this heater package, ensuring the necessary thermal performance for the dehydrogenation process.
