Telangana’s power demand could surge 8x as state targets $3 trillion economy

Industrial Services  -  Apr 21,2026  -

Telangana’s energy demand could increase nearly eightfold as the state targets a $3 trillion economy, according to Navin Mittal. The projection highlights the scale of power infrastructure required to sustain industrial expansion, urbanisation, and digital growth over the coming decades.
The expected surge will be driven by sectors such as manufacturing, data centres, and urban infrastructure, all of which are highly energy-intensive. While Telangana has emerged as a power-surplus state in recent years, this trajectory signals a transition towards aggressive capacity addition.
Meeting this demand will require a combination of renewable energy expansion, grid upgrades, and storage solutions, alongside investments in transmission networks to ensure reliability and efficiency.
