Senvion to install 4.2 MW wind turbine in Tamil Nadu by June 2025

Power Generation  -  Apr 22,2025  -

Senvion India plans to put up a 4.2 megawatt (MW) wind turbine in Tamil Nadu by June 2025. According to the company's CEO, Amit Kansal, this is a change from their previous focus on smaller turbines, usually 2.7 MW and 3.1 MW.

These larger 4.2 MW wind turbines are being designed and made in India using technology from both India and Germany. This shows a move towards more powerful renewable energy solutions made locally. Senvion India has already received orders for nearly 500 MW worth of these 4.2 MW turbines.

Currently, the company has installed about 1 GW (1000 MW) of wind power capacity across India. They plan to double this by adding another 1 GW in the next year. This quick growth shows that there is increasing demand for clean energy in India and that Senvion is playing a bigger part in meeting this need.

Besides the Indian market, Senvion India is also looking to sell its products internationally. They plan to start exporting to Europe within a year. As part of this global plan, the company is working to build more production facilities in Tiruchi, Tamil Nadu.
