The Tamil Nadu government has approved investments worth Rs. 4,282 crore to develop a shipbuilding cluster in the state.

The initiative aims to strengthen marine engineering and shipbuilding infrastructure.

The cluster will support fabrication, assembly, and allied maritime industries. The development is expected to enhance coastal industrial activity.

Implementation will be carried out in phases with participation from public and private entities. The project aligns with efforts to expand India’s shipbuilding capacity.
