Rs 126 crore gold jewellery making park to come up at Kurichi, Coimbatore

The Tamil Nadu government is gearing up to establish the country’s first gold jewellery manufacturing park at the SIDCO Industrial Estate in Kurichi, Coimbatore.

MSME Minister TM Anbarasan confirmed that the detailed project report is nearing completion. The park will span 2.46 acres with a total built-up area of 8.57 lakh sq. ft. and will include advanced facilities such as 3D printing, laser cutting, a hallmark testing room, vault, exhibition and conference halls, a training centre, and a food court.

The Rs 126 crore project will be implemented in two phases and is aimed at boosting the jewellery manufacturing sector. In the first phase, over 400 jewellery-making units will be developed.

Phase I will feature 28 large units (500 sq. ft.), 72 medium units (200 sq. ft.), and 316 small units (100 sq. ft.), along with parking for 12 trucks, 21 cars, and 1,200 two-wheelers. Phase II will add 315 medium and 2,500 small units. The park is expected to be completed within 18 months from the project start.

Initially proposed over a decade ago by the DMK government and later taken up by the AIADMK, the project is now being executed under the current DMK regime.
