Rs. 1,105 crore Rishikesh bypass project approved for four-lane development

Infrastructure  -  Apr 01,2026  -

The government has approved a Rs. 1,105 crore project for developing a four-lane bypass around Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, aimed at decongesting the city’s busy road network. The project will divert through-traffic, particularly vehicles heading towards Char Dham routes.

Rishikesh experiences heavy traffic during peak pilgrimage and tourism seasons, making congestion a major challenge. The bypass is expected to significantly reduce travel time and improve traffic flow.

The project is part of a broader push to upgrade road infrastructure in Uttarakhand, especially along routes with high religious and tourist significance.

In addition to easing congestion, the bypass will enhance road safety and improve connectivity to hill regions, supporting both tourism and local economic activity.
