RRP Electronics to set up first semiconductor plant in Maharashtra

RRP Electronics has joined hands with a consortium of European firms to set up a semiconductor facility in Maharashtra. The company will invest Rs 5,000 crore over the next five years.

The manufacturer of power semiconductors which plans to start construction soon, will lay the foundation stone in its new premises encompassing 25,000 sq. ft. of space, on 23 March, 2024. The company will further infuse Rs 5,000 crore in the second phase.

RRP Electronics will expedite the work on the project and commence the outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) with support and leveraging of expertise of its technology partners. The facility will also have an R&D centre dedicated to incorporating the latest developments in the semiconductor arena.

Furthermore, the company looks to actively seek support from the Maharashtra government to set up the unit comprising multi-lines of OSAT fab foundry and manufacturing. The new facility will exxplore opportunities and cater to sectors such as automobiles, power, electronics and various other industries.
