Refex Industries has been awarded a contract worth around Rs 300 crore to handle overburden removal and coal excavation in a major mining project in Jharkhand. 

The term is for eight months with an option for extension, strengthening Refex’s service portfolio in the coal-mining value chain.

Coal remains an important part of India’s energy-generation mix even as renewables accelerate, and efficient extraction, logistics and handling are critical to keeping supply stable. 

This contract gives Refex a strategic foothold in that ecosystem.

For Refex, traditionally focused on ash/coal handling, wind-energy and green mobility, this expansion signals diversification and stronger positioning in heavy-asset mining services. 

It may open up access to further contracts in the mining‐infrastructure sector. The company will need to focus on operational safety, input cost management and regulatory compliance, especially given increased scrutiny of mining activities. Successful delivery can enhance its reputation and upward growth trajectory.
