PWD begins redevelopment of 55-km Mahatma Gandhi ring road corridor in Delhi

Infrastructure  -  Oct 31,2025  -

The Public Works Department (PWD) has launched a major redevelopment of the 55-kilometre Mahatma Gandhi Ring Road corridor in Delhi to tackle chronic congestion and modernize one of the capital’s busiest traffic arteries.

The project involves widening lanes, improving flyovers, integrating smart traffic systems, and enhancing pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

The initiative aims to reduce travel times, improve safety, and lower vehicular emissions.

The Ring Road upgrade is part of Delhi’s larger mobility transformation plan, which includes multi-modal transport integration and better connectivity to expressways and metro networks.

Once completed, it will ease inter-city freight movement and benefit millions of daily commuters.
