Pune's traffic woes to ease with new Rs 6,000 crore elevated corridor

Infrastructure  -  Aug 29,2025  -

Commuters in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad are set to get major relief as the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved a Rs 6,000 crore elevated road project on the Mumbai-Bangalore bypass.

The 32-km corridor, which will connect Dehu Road to Narhe, is a long-awaited solution to the severe traffic congestion on this crucial stretch.

The bypass, originally built to divert inter-state traffic away from Pune city, has become a bottleneck due to rapid urbanization. The new elevated road is expected to decongest the area and provide faster, smoother travel for thousands of commuters daily.

The project will be implemented in two phases, with the first covering the stretch from Dehu Road to Pashan and Sus, and the second from Pashan-Sus to Narhe.

The move is a result of persistent advocacy from local leaders and aims to streamline connectivity to key areas like Hinjewadi and Baner.
