Primegold Steel & Power has now entered into green steel production and as part of this move, the company will set up a 20 MW solar power project in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu.

The solar plant, which will serve captive energy needs, is intended to support the company’s new green steel initiative and reduce its environmental footprint. 

The company has already secured the necessary land and financial resources for the project. The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) has sanctioned Rs 65 crore in funding, enabling construction to begin in April.

Primegold Steel & Power’s foray into solar energy aligns with its existing presence in the renewable sector, particularly wind energy, and is supported by long-term renewable energy contracts.

This expansion has been fueled by a strategic backward integration move in 2020, including the commissioning of a steel melting furnace. The company’s investment in solar energy and its continued focus on renewable integration underscore its commitment to a cleaner and more sustainable future in steel manufacturing.
