Pondy Oxides and Chemicals has announced the commencement of commercial production at the first phase of its new smelter unit located in Thervoykandigai, Tamil Nadu. 

The new facility described as "the first of its kind in India," began operations on 16 April, 2025.

This marks a major milestone in the company's expansion strategy, with the newly operational unit offering an annual capacity of 36,000 MT. 

The smelter is part of a larger plan that includes a total capacity of 72,000 MTPA at this state-of-the-art, fully automated centre. 

The company highlighted that this facility stands out in the Indian metal recycling sector for its advanced technologies and sustainable practices.

The company underscored the significance of this development, noting that the facility is engineered to handle various forms of metal waste efficiently and with minimal environmental impact.
