PM Modi inaugurates Rs 1100 crore projects at Deendayal Port

Infrastructure  -  May 28,2025  -

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for various development projects worth over Rs 1,100 crore at Deendayal Port Authority (DPA), Kandla, during an event in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Among the key projects inaugurated was a new oil jetty at Old Kandla, developed at a cost of Rs 532 crore.

These projects are aimed at transforming DPA into a hub for clean energy, infrastructure modernization, and regional economic growth, aligning with the government’s vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.

This jetty has a handling capacity of 3.5 million tonne (MT) per annum and includes modern facilities such as telescopic gangways, indigenously developed quick-release mooring systems, and an automated firefighting system. It can accommodate large liquid cargo vessels up to one lakh DWT.

The port has been designated as one of India’s three “Green Hydrogen Hubs” under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, marking a significant step in the country’s transition to sustainable energy.

The developments are expected to boost EXIM cargo operations, create employment, and enhance regional infrastructure.
