PG Electroplast plans expansion as tariff changes create new opportunities

Manufacturing  -  Apr 04,2025  -

PG Electroplast is focusing on expanding its electronics component business. "The electronics business right now is not even 10% for us in our overall revenue scheme, and we have aspirations to grow that vertical," Vikas Gupta, MD of PG Electroplast said.

With zero exports to the US currently, the company sees no impact from the US tariff announcements.

However, Gupta believes the Indian electronics industry might see long-term benefits from these tariffs due to the arbitrage opportunity created by the tariff differential between Indian, Vietnamese, and Chinese goods.

The company is actively evaluating the government's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for electronic components manufacturing, aiming to deepen the component ecosystem in India and integrate into global supply chains.

The Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) company is anticipating a surge in air conditioner demand this summer, with the company confirming it is well-prepared to meet the expected increase. "The market is hoping for a good summer and we are seeing a very robust demand," Gupta said.
