Pandian Chemicals Limited has inaugurated a new perchlorate-manufacturing facility at SIPCOT Thervoy Kandigai near Chennai, built with an investment of Rs 48 crore. 

With an initial monthly capacity of 40 tonnes—expandable in future—the plant will manufacture ammonium perchlorate and potassium chlorate, key inputs for defence propulsion and safety-match industries. The expansion supports India’s broader goals of indigenising critical defence materials and reducing import reliance. 

By situating the plant near Chennai, the company gains improved logistics access and proximity to major defence and industrial hubs.***
