North Goa water woes to end by March: WRD Minister

Infrastructure  -  Aug 08,2025  -

Water woes in North Goa are expected to be a thing of the past by March, according to the state's Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Subhash Shirodkar.

The minister stated that several ongoing projects to improve the water supply infrastructure are nearing completion.

The government has prioritized enhancing water distribution and storage to ensure a consistent supply, particularly in areas that face seasonal shortages.

This move is part of a larger state initiative to upgrade water management and provide reliable services to all residents.

Minister Shirodkar also addressed flood mitigation efforts, revealing that the government plans to desilt the Kushawati River at Paroda to prevent blockages and reduce flooding.

He stated the desilting would cost approx. Three to four crore and that the process is already underway. If needed, support from the National Institute of Oceanography will be sought for the desilting operation.
