Infrastructure  -  Apr 16,2025  -

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has commissioned a 306.9 KWp solar power plant at the Uzan Bazar Water Treatment Plant in Guwahati.

The facility, inaugurated on 10 April, 2025, underlines NFR’s continued commitment to integrating renewable energy within its operational systems.

Constructed under the Environment and Housekeeping Management (EnHM) fund, the solar plant comprises 558 monocrystalline solar modules rated at 550 Wp each, with a combined inverter capacity of 315 KVA powered by eight Luminous inverters.

The project, commissioned on 07 March, 2025, is projected to generate around 928 units of electricity daily. This output translates into estimated annual savings of Rs 30 lakh.

The solar power plant has a payback period of eight years, and an operational lifespan of 25 years, offering long-term environmental and financial benefits.
