Infrastructure  -  Jun 02,2025  -

A new technology centre is set to be established in Coimbatore at a cost of Rs 200 crore.

The centre will be located at Arasur village in Sulur block, Coimbatore, on a 14.6-acre plot of land allotted free of cost by the Tamil Nadu state government.

The Union Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Ministry is establishing this centre under its Technology Centres/Extension Centres scheme.

The project will be implemented under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis. Ircon International Limited, a public sector undertaking, is tasked with inviting bids and executing the development.

The primary aim of this technology centre is to help MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) in the region upgrade their technology and enhance manpower skills to meet current industry demands.

This initiative is expected to benefit around 50,000 MSMEs in Coimbatore and surrounding districts, enhancing their competitiveness in national and international markets.
