The Namrup fertilizer complex is slated for a major renovation and capacity upgrade that officials estimate will attract investments on the order of Rs. 10,000 crore, aimed at modernising production and expanding output. 

Such overhauls are intended to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and ensure feedstock security for the Northeast’s agricultural base. 

The project is also being pitched as an industrial catalyst for regional value chains, with potential employment and upstream supplier opportunities.

The overhaul is part of a broader centralgovernment effort to upgrade legacy fertilizer units to meet modern emission and efficiency norms. 

Once completed, the plant is expected to support regional foodsecurity goals and attract ancillary chemicalsector industries.
