The Mysuru Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) plans to set up a biogas plant to convert market waste into clean energy. 

The facility will utilise organic waste from vegetable and fruit markets to generate renewable energy and organic fertilizers.

Biogas projects are part of India’s broader push toward sustainable urban waste management and circular economy solutions. 

By diverting biodegradable waste from landfills and producing clean energy, the initiative will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support local energy needs. 

Such projects also encourage community participation and help create green jobs at the municipal level.
