L&T secures significant order from JSW Energy for heavy civil infrastructure business in Maharashtra

Power Generation  -  Jun 10,2025  -

Larsen & Toubro's Heavy Civil Infrastructure business unit has received a substantial order from JSW Energy for the construction of the Bhavali Pumped Storage Project in Maharashtra.

The order is classified as a "significant" order, which means the value of the order ranges between Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,500 crore.

The project is strategically located across the Nashik and Thane districts of Maharashtra and is designed to have a total installed capacity of 1,500 MW, comprising several smaller generating units.

The scope of work includes the complete execution of all civil works related to the project-construction of approach roads, upper and lower reservoirs, water conductor systems, pressure tunnels, and an underground powerhouse.

Pumped storage projects like Bhavali PSP play a critical role in ensuring grid stability, especially as the share of variable renewable energy sources in the power mix continues to grow, the company said.
