NHPC provided progress updates on the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, a 2,000 MW capacity initiative on the Subansiri River in Arunachal Pradesh. 

The project is a cornerstone of India’s hydropower expansion, involving large-scale civil works, mechanical installations, and high-voltage electrical infrastructure.

Hydropower continues to play a critical role in India’s energy mix by providing renewable, baseload electricity 

NHPC emphasized adherence to environmental safeguards, resettlement norms, and safety protocols while working to bring the project to commercial operation. 

Once operational, the project will provide clean energy, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and support regional economic development.
