Kolkata Metro has floated a tender for developing a 5 MW rooftop solar power project across stations and operational facilities. 

The initiative supports Indian Railways’ renewable energy and cost-reduction goals. 

Power generated from the project will be used for traction and non-traction requirements. 

It is expected to lower electricity expenses while reducing the carbon footprint of metro operations.
