The Karnataka Cabinet has cleared a Rs. 2,215 crore tunnel road project intended to decongest traffic between Mekhri Circle and surrounding key junctions in Bengaluru. 

The project aims to ease one of the city’s most bottlenecked stretches, forming part of the broader plan to modernise Bengaluru’s transport infrastructure. 

With rising vehicle density, such grade-separated solutions have become crucial for improving travel time and mobility. 

The approval signals continued policy focus on long-pending urban mobility upgrades. 

The tunnel road is expected to incorporate advanced safety and ventilation systems to handle peak-hour loads.
