JSW Energy has inked a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) for a 1,600 MW (2x800 MW) thermal power plant in Salboni.

This greenfield project, expected to be completed in five years, will use domestic linkage coal allocated to West Bengal.

It is the largest greenfield capacity and PPA agreement signed by the company, and would enhance local employment, drive economic growth, and ensure a stable power supply. 

The entire output has been secured under a 25-year agreement with the state.

Additionally, JSW Energy has received the commercial operation date (CoD) certificate for Unit 2 of its Utkal thermal power plant (2x350 MW) in Odisha.
