John Cockerill accelerates India’s green hydrogen and solar power expansion

Power Generation  -  May 14,2025  -

John Cockerill has announced plans to expand its green hydrogen operations in India and to increase its electrolyser manufacturing capacity to 2 GW by 2029, building on the initial 1 GW line expected to be operational by 2026.

This ambitious expansion is part of a strategic joint venture with AM Green Group, located in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

With the increasing global push towards decarbonization, India has set ambitious targets for green hydrogen production, and John Cockerill’s efforts are a significant contribution to this goal. By establishing a robust manufacturing base in Andhra Pradesh, the company is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for renewable energy solutions both domestically and internationally.

In addition to green hydrogen production, John Cockerill is exploring new avenues for growth by developing modular Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) systems. These CSP systems are designed to provide continuous, round-the-clock renewable energy, complementing the company’s green hydrogen initiatives.

As renewable energy sources continue to gain traction, modular CSP technology is seen as a promising solution to address the intermittency issues commonly associated with solar power.
