IRCON bags $128 million contract for New Ganga Bridge

Infrastructure  -  Jun 02,2025  -

IRCON has secured a $128 million contract from Indian Railways to construct a vital railway bridge over the River Ganga, strengthening connectivity between Bikramshila and Katareah in Bihar.

The project includes a new Broad Gauge double-line substructure and a single-line superstructure built with 33 spans of 122.0 meters and two spans of 32.086 meters using Open Web Steel Girders.

IRCON will deliver the full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction scope in 1,460 days. The firm will manage everything from planning and procurement to execution and handover.

This new bridge is part of Indian Railways’ strategic infrastructure program aimed at decongesting existing routes and boosting both freight and passenger movement in eastern India.

Improved rail access across the Ganga is expected to reduce travel time, optimize cargo operations, and enhance trade opportunities throughout the region.
