Haryana Sugarfed invites bids for setting up Bio-CBG plants under PPP Mode

Infrastructure  -  Nov 13,2025  -

The Haryana State Federation of Cooperative Sugar Mills (Sugarfed) has invited bids for the development of Bio-Compressed Biogas (Bio-CBG) plants under a public-private partnership model.

The initiative aims to convert agricultural residue, press mud, and organic waste into clean biogas, supporting the state’s renewable energy and waste-management goals.

Each proposed plant will adopt advanced anaerobic digestion technology to produce CBG and high-quality organic manure.

Sugarfed plans to leverage its network of sugar mills to ensure feedstock availability, creating new revenue streams for farmers and cooperatives. The model is designed to attract technology companies and investors with proven expertise in biogas production.

Haryana has been actively promoting clean-energy projects, with Bio-CBG emerging as a priority sector due to its role in reducing stubble burning and lowering emissions.
