The Andhra Pradesh government has announced plans to develop a greenfield commercial port at Kona village under a public–private partnership (PPP) model.

State officials said the proposed port will strengthen maritime infrastructure and improve cargo handling capacity along the state’s coastline.

The project is expected to support industrial growth, logistics operations, and export-oriented businesses in the region.

Authorities indicated that the port will complement existing ports and help ease congestion at major maritime hubs.

Development will proceed after completion of feasibility studies and investor participation under the PPP framework.
