The Centre’s green panel has approved the Dulhasti hydel power project on the Chenab River, providing a key regulatory clearance for hydroelectric development in Jammu and Kashmir. 

The project underwent detailed environmental appraisal to address ecological flow and biodiversity concerns. 

Once operational, it is expected to improve regional power availability and reduce reliance on thermal generation. 

Hydropower continues to play a strategic role in balancing India’s renewable energy mix.
