Green nod given to India’s largest steel plant in Andhra Pradesh

Metallurgical Industries  -  Oct 31,2025  -

ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has secured environmental clearance for a massive greenfield steel plant in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, setting the stage for what will become the country’s largest integrated steel complex.

The Rs 1.5 lakh crore project spans 2,200 acres and features an initial capacity of 8.2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). It will incorporate energy-efficient blast furnace technologies and low-carbon production systems consistent with India’s decarbonization vision for heavy industries.

This project represents a cornerstone of India’s goal to reach 300 MTPA in steel capacity by 2030, supporting national infrastructure and export competitiveness

The plant is expected to create thousands of jobs and drive ancillary growth in logistics, mining, and metalworking. Its strategic location near the coast gives it access to Visakhapatnam port facilities, ensuring efficient raw material movement and export logistics.
