Essar Future Energy constructs biofuel manufacturing hub in Gujarat

Petroleum  -  Jun 03,2025  -

Essar Future Energy has given a terms of reference (ToR) application for a proposed Greenfield Biofuel Complex with a production capacity of one million metric tonne per annum (MMTPA), to be established near Kajurda Village, Taluka Khambhaliya, Dev Bhumi Dwarka district in Gujarat.

The company has requested for consideration on environmental clearance (EC), and intends to prepare an environmental impact assessment (EIA) report along with the necessary environmental management measures.

The project area has been revised from 84.736 hectares to 54 hectares, with no change in the core biofuel complex layout—only the expansion and greenbelt zones have been adjusted.

The facility will utilise biogenic feedstocks such as used cooking oil (UCO), palm oil mill effluent (POME), and other sustainably sourced non-edible materials. The plant will produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and naphtha, with additional outputs including fuel gas.
