Chandigarh's sector 53 to get a multispeciality hospital

A 2,000-bed multispecialty hospital will be developed in Chandigarh’s Sector-53, with a projected investment of around Rs 1,000 crore, excluding land costs. 

According to reports, planned over three phases, the facility will be built on 23.45 acres with a total covered area of 1.80 lakh sq. mtrs.

The construction cost is pegged at Rs 500 crore, while another Rs 500 crore will be spent on medical equipment. Funding will be provided by the Central government based on Niti Aayog’s recommendations. 

Phase-I will include a mother and child healthcare block, trauma and burn unit, emergency wing, mental healthcare and drug de-addiction centre, advanced diagnostics, a clinical lab, and an academic block. 

In Phase-II, a geriatric centre and an advanced disease control centre will be added. The remaining facilities will be completed in Phase-III.
The hospital will also include residential units, a medical college, and a helipad for emergency services.
