Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. (BSPGCL) has signed Memoranda of Understanding worth nearly Rs.13,000 crore for the development of pumped storage power projects in Nawada district. 

The projects, with a combined capacity of 2,120 MW, will be developed by GreenCo Energies and Sun Petrochemicals, adding more than 14 GWh of energy storage capacity to the grid. 

Pumped storage projects are increasingly seen as critical infrastructure to balance renewable energy generation and ensure grid stability. 

For Bihar, the initiative marks a major step towards diversifying its power mix and strengthening long-term energy security. 

The projects are also expected to generate employment and attract ancillary infrastructure development in the region.
