Bed capacity to raise in upcoming Damani hospital in Mumbai to 1,000

Hospitality and Healthcare  -  May 03,2024  -

Union Minister Piyush Goyal held a meeting with hospital management of a multi-specialty hospital in Borivali, Mumbai, and it was decided that the total number of hospital beds should be increased to 1,000 from its present plan of 400. This is in view of the expanding health needs of the population of North Mumbai.

The upcoming Damani multi-specialty hospital in Borivali East is being built by a charitable trust run by Radhakrishnan Damani, owner or D-Mart.

The Minister also proposed addition of other specialised departments including oncology, neo natal centre, urology and PET scan system, alongside setting up a nursing and paramedic training school.

The deadline for completion of this hospital is planned for 2028. However, during his interaction, he mentioned that it should be opened by September, 2026.
