Maharashtra signs MoUs for 25,000 MW nuclear power push

Power Generation  -  May 21,2026  -

The Government of Maharashtra has signed multiple MoUs aimed at generating 25,000 MW of nuclear power capacity, signalling one of India’s largest clean energy expansion initiatives.

The agreements are expected to support long-term energy security, industrial growth, and carbon reduction targets as the state prepares for rising electricity demand.

The proposed projects could attract large-scale investments in nuclear infrastructure, engineering services, and allied industries.

The initiative also highlights India’s increasing focus on diversifying its energy mix through low-carbon baseload power generation.
